Express Entry
Express Entry is a system used by the Canadian government to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. It is not an immigration program but rather a selection system for various federal economic immigration programs.
The key federal economic immigration programs managed through Express Entry include:
1. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW): For skilled workers with foreign work experience who wish to immigrate to Canada permanently.
2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): For skilled tradespersons who have experience in certain occupations and want to become permanent residents.
3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC): For individuals who have work experience in Canada and wish to transition from temporary to permanent residence.
The Express Entry process involves the following steps:
1. Creation of an Online Profile: Candidates interested in immigrating to Canada through Express Entry create an online profile that includes information about their skills, work experience, education, language ability, and other details.
2. Ranking in the Pool: Profiles are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on factors like age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and others. Candidates with the highest scores receive Invitations to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
3. Receiving an Invitation to Apply: Applicants who receive an ITA can then apply for permanent residence. They have 60 days to submit their application after receiving an invitation.
4. Application for Permanent Residence: Successful applicants receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence and must complete the application process within a specified time frame.
Express Entry is a competitive system, and candidates with higher CRS scores are more likely to receive an ITA. Having a valid job offer or a provincial nomination can significantly increase a candidate's CRS score.
It's important to note that the Express Entry system is dynamic, and candidates in the pool can improve their profiles over time to enhance their chances of receiving an ITA.
